Before lunch we will do our first firing, taking hot beads from the kiln and smoke firing them to produce different effects drawn in smoke. You will learn about firing and how to build your own kiln, safety, and the tools and equipment needed to try it yourself at home.

Once we’ve learned the basics, after lunch we will decorate a masked storage jar. Designs will be provided, or you can create your own freehand. Bring your own lamp work bead to make a top for your jar if you wish. Each lid will have a hole ready made for attaching a glass knob.

We will do at least two firings during the day, but will try for another if time permits.

This is a hands on class and great fun, please wear old clothes and have long hair tied back. we will be working with flames, smoke and high temperatures.

Over 18’s only. You will need to bring a packed lunch and drinks for during the day.
